Wow! What a roller coaster two weeks! The semi-finals of the Aviva Community Fund just ended, and after a couple of weeks where it looked like we'd be lucky to break the top 10, you guys put on a MAJOR push in the last 2 days, and we ended up in FIRST! We really can't thank you enough - your support will be going a long way toward securing Skate4Cancer its first real home in Toronto.

The next step is the juried portion of the competition. This is the part where they take our vote and support totals into consideration (huge thanks to YOU!) as well as our idea, its practicality and its impact on our community. There is $500,00 to be awarded to any number of initiatives. We're pushing for between $100,000-$150,000 for our space. This should allow some other really great ideas to get funding as well - make sure you check some of them out and keep an eye out for ideas that may benefit your community.

We'll let you know how the juried portion of the competition goes in the coming days. But once again, we can not thank you enough for your support. Whether you voted, re-tweeted, poked some friends or simply cheered us on, its because of you that we're in such a great position to actually make this dream a reality. THANK YOU!

If you have any questions about the competition or Skate4Cancer, don't hesitate to get in touch with us!

Greetings! You are very hard to get in touch with! My name is Cori Alvarez and my new years resolution for 2010/2011 is to be apart of something that is bigger than me . Every year I participate in 5k walks for breast cancer, cancer in general, MS, diabetes, benefit zoo research, etc..and I feel that it's something, but it's not good enough for me. I can do something more. The first time I heard about your cause was on a episode of LA ink and when I saw you I knew you were the one that I can go to for help. And with your help through hair4cancer i'd love to organize a cancer awareness benefit. The reason I'm choosing 2011 resolution is because by that time I'll have enough hair to give to two individuals. I've never done anything like this before (shaving my head) and I feel ready. Please contact me on my email iamcori@yahoo.com. Best wishes, Cori

"We may not be able to raise enough money to change the world, but we can raise enough people to change the world." - we live by the example you have set for us Rob. Thanks for giving me an opportunity to get other people involved in voting for a worthy cause! I look forward to good news in the days to come.
